I posted that I'd had a visit from the Police last week. I live in the UK and they said it was because they had information that I'd visited Exit International. There was only one way they knew this - online monitoring, as I'd told nobody that I'd visited the site.

I contacted my MP as I felt my privacy had been invaded. I'm a grown adult, not a child. In the response I got back, they are carrying out a police investigation into the site and washed to check if I was A: alive and B: wanted to make a criminal complaint. I was told none of this.

So if you've visited that site, expect a call from Mr Plod. I'd suggest saying you're an independent journalist and with all the talk of assisted dying in the UK, you were visiting the site as research. They caught me off guard.

Be careful

This censorship is just making people feel more hopeless. It's not helping anyone.

Yeah, there's even more cuts to services. You phone 111 First Response and they tell you you're not in crisis and to phone the Samaritans. If they invested half the money into supporting mental health services as they did into this online safety act, less people would get to that point.

Typical British government mentality. More people are suicidal. Let's cut money to mental health services and then punish and harrass those who are desperate for help but have no hope of getting it

I really think the uk government and police should go after real criminals and leave people who are doing no harm alone

There are no browsers that don't track you? You have to result to VPN? What about a Linux based computer or phone?

This is concerning, I'm in the US and so far they're not doing welfare checks. Hopefully they don't have the resources yet because they're spending so much time doing other "things" 🤷‍♂️
