Due to physical and mental illness I have been a NEET for around 7 years. If you add to that the years in which I tried to study something it's actually 12 years of aimlessness.

I worked a little bit in my life hey. Just enough to know what it's like. Overall is much better than spending the whole day jacking off and surfing the Internet. In the early years pretensions of artistry and writing.

I managed to finish 1 and 3/4 years of a programming course. The last quarter is devoted to real work experience. Fine by me, they say there is ample work for programmers so you get inside directly with this, however my subconscious disagrees. It's 5:19 AM, and I have made amends with the fact that I will go to my first day with no sleep whatsoever.

Off to a great start! Headaches and nausea await! I really need to get Ambien tomorrow, it should work for a few days...

That's super awesome man. You're taking initiative and trying to solidify your place in the world. You have no idea how much a decent job/income can help with self-esteem.

Best of luck on your first day of work! You've already accomplished so much by doing all the coursework! I envy your position and hope you feel proud of yourself, as you should :)

Good luck!

It's okay to not know what you're doing as you go along.

It's okay to make mistakes.

It's okay to not feel like you can't "do it."

It's okay to feel uncomfortable.

Don't stress about it. You'll do well.

After this quarter is over, will you be able to work as a programmer part or full time? That sounds like it could be positive for you.

Best of luck.

Good luck!! I cried my eyes out my first day last week. I'm comfortable now. First days are inevitably scary and uncomfortable but worth it. Don't make a judgment off the first few days. Sleep well tonight.

Damn, when the coworkers get going you know you are out of place lol
I will always be a foreign species to the normies. Gotta tolerate them and learn to defend myself, I guess, but prolonged interaction with them is very dangerous psychologically. Nobody needs to pick up a fight, we are already naturally at odds and hostilities will arise (and have already in an offhand manner). By them, of course. Its quite fascinating how without provocation they will probe with little jabs.

Talk about the harmful effects of isolation, being around these people could be worse :pfff:

Maintaining a consistent sleep schedule 6 days a week will do wonders for your ability to rationalise. Losing just 2 hours sleep a night is associated with a significant risk of relapse, so make sure you get your Zs!

Let´s just pretend then that lack of sleep made me paranoid and these are wonderful people.

After a couple of weeks you won't be the new person and the psychological damage will be done. Assimilation Complete!

Coworkers are always a little weird to newbies. It feels like wolfs playing a bit before they let you in the pack lol. It'll naturally adjust the longer you're there.

The CTO was impressed by my portfolio and has decided to let me try to start a mobile app project. I'm working my ass off every day.

I think something good will come out of this, but I also feel like if I fail now, I will end it all due to the enormous fall from this emotional height/hight stakes situation. Can't falter in this critical junction. 🚀

It is a marathon and not a sprint. Take care of yourself when you are not working. Look to master your craft. Be teachable and humble and let your work speak for yourself. Learn as much as you can and become indispensable.

so good they can't ignore you is an excellent book that I recommend
