Why tf is it that a straight dude can't get a free hpv vaccine if wanting to?
because they don't identify as gay or trans between the ages of 27 and 45 apparently. it also goes to show the lack of genuine empathy felt for people who are trans or non binary imo
But where I currently live
It works like this
If your older but identify as part of GBMSM or live with HIV, they could be considered for funding. Otherwise, they'd need to pay privately.
Free HPV Vaccine?
Boys/girls aged 9–26Yes, automatically (catch-up if needed)School program (Grade 6) or clinics/pharmacy.
Individuals 27–45 who are GBMSMYes, if self-identify within GBMSMPublic health, pharmacies, clinics
All others age 27–45Not free (can pay privately)Private clinics or travel clinics.
Idk why I'm even looking into this rn but anyway
a straight man who smokes absolutely could apparently benefit from the HPV vaccine.
I use smoking as an example because online it uses GBMSM identifying people as more susceptible to throat and anal an penile cancer,,
That doesn't mean other men aren't at risk this is how we create that divide between all of us, idc idgaf about if your straight Wight green yellow whatever I do not care I just care about people and well deeply hate people aswell but studies show smokers with HPV are at much higher risk of throat cancer than non-smokers with HPV.
Still though for a straight man who smokes, the vaccine would be the equivalent of an extra layer of protection against throat cancer on top of whatever steps he takes to manage smoking risks on-top of that,
HPV vaccinated smokers -
If you smoke but you got the HPV vaccine, the vaccine prevents you from ever catching high-risk HPV types in the first place.
That means your throat cancer risk goes back down near baseline for HPV-driven cancers.
If you dont have the hpv vaccine and you have a some form of the HPV Human papillomavirus infection and you smoke-
This is the worst-case group kinda thing
Smoking damages your throat cells basic shit and weakens your ability to clear HPV.
If you get HPV on top of that, the risk of throat cancer is 2–3 times higher than for a smoker with HPV.
So smokers with HPV infections are the highest risk group, since I guess a smoker with HPV is at least 3–5 times more likely to get throat cancer than a smoker who's vaccinated and protected from HPV.
So even if you smoke, whoever you identify
the HPV vaccine makes a huge difference in cutting down throat cancer risk.
I just find it unreasonable that a straight dude can't get it for free after 27,, most straight men hate all us queers already I don't want the divide to grow bigger,, for the hate between the two to grow thicker if this all makes sense,, but this is just one thing compared to so many things.
