By DPH, I am referring to Diphenhydramine, which is found in sleeping medication like Nytol.

I'm trying to find an alternative to benzos, something that doesn't require a prescription and that will dull my senses a bit. I'm happy to overdose on medication.
I've heard mixed things, some people say that this can make you more jittery/ anxious. I'm open to trying everything, even if it makes me less sedated and more wired and impulsive.

I have a 20 pack of 50MG. I'm also wondering what's considered a 'recreational dose' that causes trips? 400mg?

Also looking for other non-prescription medication options for dulling SI (not for the suicide itself) and info about taking DPH with alcohol.

I'm gonna be honest you shouldn't even be using dph for sleep I know people do but really there's better ways to sleep also it's better used for allergy. As for SI I haven't heard about it but I know taking too much dph (even in normal dose too often) is linked to risk of dementia. I have taken hydroxyzine an antihistamine (basically diphenhydramine's cousin, same drug class) and it didn't help with SI so I highly doubt dph would (I stopped taking hydroxyzine because it's almost as bad as dph and makes you groggy the next day which I believe dph does too).

I would figure something else out that's better for SI

If you're looking for a similar effect that dph has maybe melatonin? Not sure if it would help your SI but it's better for you than dph for calming your mind at least

Thank you for the info. I've searched a few threads on here about DPH but am having a hard time finding concrete info, a few people have said it works, some said it's a decent last resort.

Would using alcohol at the same time positively or negatively affect the results?

I think I'll take some on a night where there's nothing really going on the next day and see how it makes me feel.
I'm open to trying melatonin, but it's a bit harder to get ahold of from what I have seen.

Dph isn't all bad I just mean it's not like an everyday thing maybe once in awhile for sleep if you use one or two pills but not SI

With alcohol it will increase the side effects so I would say negative also it can cause respiratory depression and overdose (and don't get excited that you can ctb in these ways because if you could more of us would be doing it)

If you want to try dph you can I cant stop you just don't depend on it a lot same with alcohol
