it seems like it would be extremely painful and your SI would kick in before the job could be finished, and you are left with permanent damage. i would try to find a better method to ctb. best of luck

This is a terrible way to try and die, it has a less than 2% success rate so I really don't think so.

yes but i dont recommend it, ur SI will kick in instantly + its painful and long. take it from a cutter, its better to keep that shit as a coping mechanism unless ur drunk / high af and have a way of thinning out ur blood to bleed out faster or knocking yourself out before your SI can kick in

No, definitely not. Your SI would likely kick in before you bleed out. As Samuel said, I'd say to only use cutting as a coping mechanism.

Yes it does but most cut incorrectly, I can tell you how but I'd advise against this painful traumatic way.

I keep myself numbed with medication. When I am not numbed down I try to keep myself from getting into an endless loop of ways to take the trash out. Sometimes the urge to let something happen to me gets the best of me and that is basically what's the worst that happens. My doctor tried to prevent the worst by prescribing antipsychotics and yet still here I am. to me it is so weird that this little glob in our head is responsible for the self destruction that we experience. I don't feel worse in any way but I just feel more numbified in taking my own life.

It does work. Rarely. Like FuneralCry said the success rate is really low. Let's say your SI don't kick in (which won't be the case, trust me); you somehow get to the cut on the other arm to make bleeding out faster (mostly this ain't the case either because your hand is not gonna be able to cut as easily through the skin as the first time with the other hand), you're in a bathtub f.e. with warm water to get the blood flow go and on top of that you don't feel any pain from the cut(s) (you probably will tho) it still takes up at LEAST 15 MINUTES. Imagine being there, hoping noone will come to resue you (somehow people will hear or see something and act on that so the worries are justified) for at least 15 minutes.
There're TONS of better ways. The reason why this method is shown in movies and stuff is because it's shocking and dramatic not because it actually works.
Apart from that, this method is also very often chosen in the mood, i.e. precisely in a very impulsive moment. Those people also think of most of the points I mentioned earlier, but that doesn't change the fact that this method (as simple as it may seem) hardly ever works and in most cases it destroys the tendons and muscles so that you aren't able to actually use your hands like you used to do.

Elbow up to wrist, right?
Correct, don't know much about cutting but I know its faster to go upwards.

Leg is better then arm as well, Inner thigh I'm pretty sure theres a major atery there.

I'm not an expert. I know a few people who have done it this way. But man, if the cuts aren't deep, I suspect it takes forever.

The best way to make this work is to be in a bathtub so your blood runs out in the tub. And most important be heavily sedated. And most important study how to make the cuts, it's not intuitive you usually want to cut up (more) in addition to across.

As someone whos tried CTB by cutting wrist let me just say that you dont want to do it, it wont be as effective as you think. When i did it it was painful, i got dizzy then proceeded to pass out 10 mins later.

I actually have a question about this method. Would it be realistically possible to cut off the whole arm instead of making cuts? (not intending to cbt just curious)
My reasoning is that you'd bleed out quicker.
edit: not the whole arm from the shoulder, lets say you cut off the arm at the elbow or cut off the hand

Not so sure about the replies on here. If you make a deep cut with a razor blade, which realistically speaking isn't too difficult if you have the intent, you will pass out from blood loss in a matter of a few minutes. It will be painful. But the 'success rates' people seem to be referring to here definitely include weak attempts, including just cutting horizontantly in a way that mimics regular self-harm. Cutting into an artery, especially if you manage to achieve it in both arms, will cause rapid blood loss, and you'll ultimately pass out relatively quickly.

However, it'll be extremely painful, as in you'll be screaming out in pain during the whole ordeal. Definitely not recommended unless you are incredibly desperate, but if you do it correctly, it'll most likely achieve the results you want.

1. SI might prevent you from a achieving your goal
2. It's very painful and is not a peaceful death AT ALL.
3. If you fail, you will be left with permanent damage.
I'm not a big fan of this method. I personally would choose a different method that is less painful and slow. Only do this in desperate situations or purely for self-harm.

Yeah, even if you cut deep enough, the wait will make SI kick in.
