Discussion Does anyone else hate where they live?

I do. I live in one of hottest and most isolated places on Earth. I am eternally upset that I was born here and have had to spend my whole life here.

It's hot for most of the year - summers in particular are absolutely unbearable. I always feel stressed whenever I have to go outside. I hate the sun. Our "winters" aren't that cold and they never last long. It never snows here either. I've always loved the cold and for years I have dreamed of living somewhere where it snows a lot. It breaks my heart knowing I've had to miss out on that. I'd kill to swap lives with somebody living in, say, Canada, or anywhere in north Europe.

There also aren't many career or relationship prospects where I live, as a consequence of how geographically isolated I am.

I'd leave and move somewhere else, but it's not exactly easy to just do that. I have family here and they mean a lot to me. Unfortunately they are unwilling to move anywhere else. Without them, I think my life would be far worse than what it is now.

I do. It's not really a bad place at all, you just need a car to get anywhere. Doctors keep referring me to other doctors I need a fucking uber to get to.

I think my home town is really the closest thing you can get to paradise on earth. I miss it, and I didn't deserve it, but it's my home. This isn't the worst place ever, but everything here, even the people, they're just subtly worse somehow

Yes, I hate it here. It gets way too hot in summer, and everyone here is rude/mean in some way.

I dislike where I live, but it's not the worst place to live in the world. Just difficult living in a city that reminds you so much of your ex.

Yes, I live in Nowhere, USA where everything is at minimum a 30 minute drive away. Only issue is I don't have a working car right now so I've been extremely isolated for about a year now. I wish I could live in a city or something so I could live my life without being eternally dependent on a 2 ton metal box to go anywhere. Even if my car gets fixed it'll inevitably break again so whats even the point of fixing it?

Ugh, tell me about it. I always feel so out of place, like I'm surrounded by morons. There's plenty of bogans and other trashy people around where I live too. I'm also in Australia. Thankfully no crocodiles and extremely humid weather here but I have lived in Darwin before and it was horrible there in its own way. Thankfully I was pretty young when I was living there so I honestly don't remember a lot of it.

I hate it to the point I'm just abusing the benefits of citizenship and avoiding paying taxes. If I have a chance to revoke my nationality, I would do it.

Yes. I moved from a progressive city to a small backwater town. The climate and people suck. The dating scene is so so abysmal here. I can't find any women to date, and all the men here are fat, white, and bald and overly fetishize the idea of dating a Latina.

This is an incredibly important thread. Where you live matters, and it matters if it's right for you. I feel trapped in a place that is not right for me, although I can still see positives here. I also feel guilt about horrible conditions worldwide and the shocking numbers of displaced people, refugees/asylum seekers, and people who are unhoused/homeless.

Also, whenever I was released from psych wards, it was not good for my recovery to have no help finding places to live, and when I found anything those places probably did not contribute to my mental health.

I live in one of the hottest states in Brazil. the vegetation here is just sad and yellow, and the local culture isn't exactly... riveting. and I'm allergic to mosquitoes, and this place has more of them than people on the planet, i swear. the folks here can also be super prejudiced even a little from the norm and u are basically 'the devil!' or something. ngl, this state actually got voted the rudest in the whole country once. that's an achievement you don't see every day lol
