Do you talk to your pet!?

I talk to my dog all the time! I am constantly caught talking to my dog and people think I am crazy LOL.

I still talk to all of my dogs... and the last one died a year ago! Sometimes they even answer me. Now how's that for crazy

Yeah all the time lol. Sometimes I think he knows exactly what I be talking about. When I hear another dog barking I usually ask him "Oh what are they (the dog) saying?" It makes me laugh all the time.


I remember one time my dog sneezed and I said bless you and some lady looked at me like I was crazy haha.

The other day I saw a guy talking to his dog, it was obvious he thought his dog understood him. I came home and told my cat...we laughed a lot.

When I had pets as a child I used to talk to them. I haven't had any pets as an adult because I lost too many as a child and it was too painful. However, I used to put peanuts out for the squirrels and I would talk to them. Now I don't have any trees in my backyard, so no squirrels. Now I just walk around talking to myself!
I also talk to people on the television and to my husband (who passed away).

When I had pets, constantly. I don't have any now because I can't even take care of myself, a crazy monkey made its way up in my brain though and driving me crazy.

My first cat was such a sweetheart. She and I would cuddle and fall asleep together. Her purrs and cute little snore made me feel the safest.

I've talked to every pet I've had. I have cats currently, but I've spoken to my snakes, fish, hedgehog, oxen, dog, frogs, newt. I know some don't understand but I like to show my love for them. x

I see one parent talk to their cats and give them far more attention that they ever did to me which hurts, they have probably spent a lot more money on them too. I'm sure if they were suffering they would allow them to be out of its pain too- so why won't they let me?

I do it in a baby kind of voice she gets all excited I love it. I also told her that one day I won't come home and that she will never know why or what even happened to me.

Yes but only in language he can kind of understand lol! On his level. He seems to get it 90% of all communication is non verbal anyway.

Of course I talk to my cat!! I think I probably talk to him more than I talk to other humans in person. However as final eacape said, 90% of the communication is non verbal. But he knows what I'm saying. I also understand him.

I remember my sister's sprocker spaniel as a puppy down in Cornwall. He was off the lead messing about near the cliff edge. We were frantically trying to entice him away with baby language, like you do. He wasn't having any of it. Just had his defiant look in his eyes. Eventually I got bored and said "oh just fucking come away from the edge." The naughty expression left his face and over he came.
Now many would say it was tone of voice and none verbal communication. But I know that dog. He was taking the piss cus we were treating him like a baby. Once that stopped he did what he was told. Crafty little git. I learned he responds to straight talking.

I used to. Poor thing :( I miss him. He knew more about me than I knew about myself. I lost the only "person" I could be honest with and the only one who could always cheer me up..

you know people say oooo you should talk about it you'll feel better you can talk to me. Like no. I can't. We don't speak the same language (not literally) I mean like philosophically(I think that's the word) you guys know what I mean tho. Can't talk about it. Not to anyone. Even if I did, I'd be shamed and ridiculed or given terrible advice and cliches. And I'm not talking about you guys I know that you're all super supportive and understanding but I can't open up to anyone anymore.

I talk to my dog and I think she understands or at least seems to.Maybe not the whole conversation/diction but maybe picks up the emotion/feelings behind the words(?)..We've been together a long time so we have that bond.I also talk to a stray cat that has seemed to adopt my home/yard.The fact that she seems to listen Im sure has to do with the handouts.Sometimes I talk to the mockingbirds and ravens that come around in the mornings.Im sure they don't know what Im saying but they seem to be more comfortable and hang around more since Ive been speaking to them.Got caught talking to a mocking bird the other morning by a neighbor.Kind of embarrassing,I guess.Stared at me kinda weird.
