to die, or to not? share your feelings.

i get a feeling when i don't eat and my stomach is rumbling that makes me feel a way i can't at all when i do eat. it feels like food weighs me down. i know death by malnutrition/starvation is neither common nor does it actually ensure death, so maybe not a suicide attempt, but that feeling combined with even a possibility of going to sleep one night and not waking up makes me feel so at peace.

my birthday is in two months and i wonder honestly if i could just die before then.

I kinda get what you mean but in a different sense. It's not to die but cuz the feeling I get when my stomach is growling is soo good. That level of control. It's calming. It's good.

Even if it worked, good luck resisting the urge to eat something for a week or so.

I'm not sure if you would die during sleep, that does sound good but is it how it works?

i've gone for nearly a week before, but again, wouldn't be solely out of a hope to die. usually don't have much food on hand anyway, but somehow the way it drains me and just makes me sleepy is nice.

it can; it's like a gamble kind of. you can go into shock or cardiac arrest awake as well, but it's one or the other.

I did it for 40 days once. My Jesus fast. And 21-30 days a few times. Water only, no food or supplements. It's an interesting experience. That craving for food you describe as stomach rumbling is a very short term thing. It doesn't persist beyond the first few days. Your body runs on ketones after that, which I find calming. But you really need to know what you're doing for it to be a nice feeling after a week or so. Drink plenty of water but not in big chugs, just constantly small amounts all day, to avoid flushing electrolytes but also stay hydrated. Coming out of it is also a slow process. You have about 3-4 days on really high water content foods before your stomach can really handle anything solid, and another 3-4 days more before you can eat things like steak or pizza.

Cravings are different during the fast. There's no hunger. No desire for food generally. The sugar craving disappears too. But anything with salt in it gets craved. Sausages were a big one for me. And olives. I think because the body is very low on sodium so creates these cravings for very specific things that it thinks meet the deficiency.

I don't think it's viable as a suicide method. Doing it properly, you'd last a very long time - certainly much longer than 40 days. And if you don't do it properly, you're less likely to die and more likely to end up in terrible pain from electrolyte deficiency, dehydration and/or refeeding too fast. But as an experiment to see what it feels like, I've found it valuable, with the caveat that you should find out how to do it properly beforehand.

Oh right, there was something about dying from eating too fast. You'd think if somebody is starving and eats a lot, they will be fine. But nope. Funny how our bodies work.

"Refeeding syndrome usually occurs within four days of starting to re-feed."
This is ridiculous.

Definitely. My problem is when I get really hungry, I eat. Even though I don't take enough fluids in, I couldn't stop that either. Oh, the effed up choices we have to ctb, eh?

Yeah, but not as a method, just because I'm fat and have no self control to eat healthily and exercise.

I tried as hard as I could and made it about 24 hours on my third attempt.

It is very difficult.

People have managed to water and food fast for days upon days. Your body betrays you, you can't sleep and you have to like pick the shit out of your ass,you can feel it in your colon.

Did you have any fluids or kept it to a minimum?
