Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

There are more experts than ever. There is almost unlimited access to new information online. Everyday new scientific research is done and we get new technologies.
Though, I have doubts...

I read there are less scientifical breakthroughs. There are many possible reasons. Lack of interdisciplinary approaches for example. Or maybe the easy to find innovations were already found and developed. And the really hard cases remain.

One reason that is often explained is that in a current time the old gatekeepers of discussions lost their function. On the internet, the loudest voices get the most attention. I am certainly contributing to this problem. Though, we are on a suicide forum no one should take information on here about politics or the society too serious.

I wonder whether I am good at filtering out the noise when I am readind the newspaper. I am probably not good at it. Following media stories can be a waste of time. If you don't do it for a few days most information can be outdated pretty fast. It is like a reoccuring investment. The media thrives from telling us stories and narratives to keep us engaged. Not only on social media partially also in the mainstream press even though their inherent logic differs.

Politically, I have the feeling Trump and his entourage arequite incompetent. Not all of them and not on all issues. But in the longrun they do a lot of damage to the country for example by neglecting soft power. They are filthy corrupt and the supports ignore it because the media outlets are bought and partisan. Maybe it is also a strategy to disrupt the old system as an accelarator. I am torn between these positions. Part of it is probably strategy and other parts collateral damage.

I have the feeling emotions become more and more important. It is an outrage society. Resentments have become stronger. The gut feeling isn't a good advisor when it comes to politics. though.

We live in a finite world, so there will become a time where progress won't be going so fast. For example the past few decades computers got smaller and smaller, fit more and more inside a processor, but currently we've basically reached a barrier where any smaller will involve quantum physics and electrons simply.. teleporting over a transistor. So progress is not infinite, nothing is.

That and in our current world everything is shared more easily, so the idiots that before only had their local town to yell into, now have the entire world to share, so they're more visible.

Following media in itself isn't bad, you just need to be aware of the biases every platform has, and those of your own.

Your feelings regarding emotions being more important is more of an US-UK issue though, I know of no other country where they take such rash decisions cause of opinions, including my own.
