I find it really upsetting that people are so obsessed with a 'dignified death' while no one talks about a "dignified life". My main motivator for ctb is that I cannot live in dignity in this world. As someone misdiagnosed with psychosis. it is impossible for the world at large to treat me as an equal. My value in our current socioeconomic system is based how productive I am or what job I am. Coming from a large South Asian family, first question everyone asks is what university I am studying in and what career I am doing, since I am not a doctor or engineer I am just a second class member of my family. And God forbid if I drop out of uni. As far as the healthcare system is concerned, nothing I say can be taken seriously because I am 'delusional'. And I have had Mental health services exploit my diagnosis as a way to gaslight me. Every mental health professional is either combative or patronising, I am never treated as an equal. If I can't be afforded dignity in being alive, I say it is not worth being alive at all. If people really cared about they would show me respect and treat me with dignity. But it appears that the only reason people want to not ctb is to keep me around as an ornament, as my not existing will just make them feel uncomfortable.
