Did anyone else not have internet in their household before age 18?

I think that's why, there are somethings some kids knew like about the system In place. One girl sung the song "all I really say is that they don't really care about us" and I didn't understand. I wish I caught on sooner
Exactly. The first I ever heard of the internet was when Clinton was running for Pres he said they're gonna build an "Information Superhighway."
I'm all like wtf,dude,whatever.
Then, later, Al Gore would claim that he "invented" the internet.
I'm glad we didn't have it when I was young,---although when I think of the porn!! Its wild! In my younger days I'd humiliate myself going to porn theatre like the Admiral in Chicago.
All of these weird grubby guys sitting there playing with their greasy shlongs!!
I think the internet hurt me,cuz I was depressed, autistic blah blah blah. Got addicted to it,somewhat.
It is what it is.
I was born in year 2000. and I had almost no contact with internet through most of my teen years. Yep, I probably missed the gold age of internet when most mainstream platforms weren't as heavily monetized, the memes, trends etc. but I still used to read a lot and wasn't significanlty less informed or knowledgeable than someone else my age. On average, that is. (actually it was the opposite most times lmao)
There was definitely no internet in my house when I was 18. I was already out of college and working with computers for a 5-6 years by the time AOL and chat rooms came out. Then again, I'm old.
Internet in the home was definitely not a thing anywhere when I was 18, I remember using the internet for the first time at uni, using gopher and playing Kobra mud over telnet and being blown away by it. A few years later got a modem at home (14,400b/s :p) and discovered newsgroups and the handful of web pages there were available :)
I had internet since I was 10 but I don't think that made me better socially adjusted at all. I was never exposed to anything too horrifying until my teen years beyond a few jump scares and even still it didn't do anything to prepare me for the real world.
I had access to a computer when I was still elementary school aged. I think people who grew up without the internet at home are still more common than people realize though. I was really the only one in my (admittedly small) friend group who had a household computer that young. I know here in the US that while the internet became mainstream in the mid 90s, less than 50% of households had internet access until 2002. I think a lot of kids were still accessing the internet at school if at all until fairly recently, maybe a decade or so ago. I don't think the internet directly impacts mental health but I suppose having easier access to certain information may not be the best thing.
I'm from 1978, the internet didn't come home until 2000. I only had it for a year because I became addicted and became very anxious.
We put it back on in 2017 and this time surprisingly it doesn't cause me any addiction or anxiety.
But of course, today's Internet is far removed from the possibilities of accessing the information it offered you 20 years ago.
I was born in 2002 and had a normal childhood despite problems at home and at school I think I got my first computer at 9 or 10 my problem was always porn my parents never cared what I did in my room watch this very early destroyed my innocence and a few years later i went to watch gore, so i didn't see the world the same way other kids do something that didn't let me make friends, it would be better if porn sites didn't exist

I wholeheartedly agree porn destroyed me too. I was influenced by the wrong people going down the path of destruction
How are teens aware enough to attempt CTB? I didn't have internet until 19. By that time I was already destroyed by porn and masturbation and being groomed by men online. Parents weren't aware and allowed these destructive behaviors and I was naive primed for predators I allowed in. Exploited 3 times by sex I feel so used
I didn't have good internet until 14. And I was actually scared of porn involving real ppl growing up. It grossed me out. Smutty fanfiction, hentai, and yaoi manga was the only adult content I consumed back then. Not even big on real porn now since it seems redundant af and doesn't cater to my kinks and aesthetics.
I was exposed to a lot of shock vids back then though. 1 man 1 Jar, Mr hands, 2 girls 1 cup etc.
Honestly kinda glad to know I wasn't the only one. I really don't look at porn at all these days, but back when I was I didn't really get into real porn until I was well into my 20s. It was always doujins or animations for me.
