  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Hello,

I wanted to ask what you think of the title. . .

Is depression a punishment or really just a "test"?

I once heard the saying: "Depression is just a test"

Is that true?

Please help me

Likely fate but I suppose some people view it as a test as they battle against it.

That really depends on one's spiritual beliefs. To me, depression is nothing supernatural; it's simply a flaw in our genetics that leads some people to experience deep feelings of sadness with or without a cause. We are unfortunately the ones who lost the coin toss; I do not believe that a god is punishing or testing us.

i would say its just a test that anyone can get. Some people can come out of it stronger and some decide they would rather not have to deal with it. Both options are valid

For me it seemed like a holding period where pieces were coming together. Once activated things shifted.

It's a bit of an oversimplification, but I think it's just the result of (susceptible) genes interacting with the "wrong environments" over time. Depending on your definition, I guess you could call it fate if you believe in causal determinism.

If you believe it's a test or punishment, who or what is doing this to you?

Neither option.
Depression is the result of this world telling you to smile all the time, that the world is beautiful and everything is luxury, just a fuckin lie, all that is exhausting, the world is shit, just try to survive and find yourself and on that path I hope you find good people who make you laugh sometimes, you have nothing to prove.

Yea, I can't see it as either option offered.

It can be environmental, or genetic (think: children born with mutations resulting in extra limbs), or a mix of both. Depressed states in primates can be intentionally triggered through abuse (some very unhappy 'scientists' have demonstrated this). And it just seems logical to say that if genetic mutations can result in physical 'deformities' then it should also be able to result in intellectual deformities too--deformities of the mind, or what we perceive to be the mind.

It's just random life. The larger meaning behind it is a mystery, and something I can't comprehend.

I dont think its either of those. The world is apathetic to what's going on with people. There is no reason or meaning for our suffering, its just absurd.

A test/punishment for what, precisely?

A test to get into heaven? In that case why isn't everyone tested on the same level? Why would some people have it harder?

If it's a punishment, what exactly have we done to warrant this suffering?
