You don't need OTC meds. Apply some ice on the area beforehand, that should help. I actually just spent the last two hours bawling my eyes out and cutting my forearm with a double-edge safety razor, and it hardly hurt at all. Just don't cut too deep! With a super sharp razor, you hardly need to apply any pressure.
