They smell a bit sour, almost like rotten lemon mixed with bug spray. Yes I can detect a single dead ant. One was actually on my arm earlier so I smacked it and prepared for the smell. Of course it came. It's slightly annoying honestly, not very pleasant. It's a very distinct smell.

I assume they emit pheromones to alert their colony that they've been killed, so as to warn them of any threat

Some kind of ants smell very chemically(?) like mixture of acidic, cleaning stuff like bleach, even little bit of gasoline?? idk how to describe that accurately but its stinks horrible and sharp

I'm not an ant-genocidist so I wouldn't know. I am very Buddhist when it comes to that stuff. I simply won't hurt another living thing. Plus if you kill ants and also wet the bed, that means you're a psycopath. I read that somewhere. Jk I'm grossed out by bugs and won't even go near them to kill them.
