If the rope has a larger diameter, it will feel better. Cloth would do fhe same thing it set up correctly. It only needs to feel ok for 10 seconds...

It would decrease the pain from the skin burn so you should do it. But make sure it isn't very thick so there won't be difficultly in quickly blocking the carotid arteries.

i was wondering why people wouldnt use something like those things that go on seat belts to save your neck from it.

Hm, something I have as an idea to use along with my rope.
It's a good point, though would make blocking the arteries harder as @death137 said.
I guess it all depends. What type of rope it is, how thick it is and so on.
