I think ropes are harder and stronger in general, but there are people who has done it with belts and ties. I think ropes just increase the success rate.

I honestly wouldn't know by the numbers unfortunately. But if the material is strong when you pull it, should work!

A belt is best. Maybe the leg of yoga pants or something like that.
To test, tie it to your mounting point and see if it will hold your weight.
If it does, do not drop when you attempt. That can tear the item.
