I think the German mafia isn't particular German. Lol. Migrants have to do the dirty jobs in my country. Most Germans feel superior. And I think a different cultural background, poor socioeconomical circumstances, language barriers and no chance to make it in life make people prone to crime.

Today, I read a piece about the mafia in Mexico. And if I lived in Mexico I would shit myself. Many people on here who watch gore say the Mexican cartells are the worst of the worst. I read about such videos and holy gosh. The Yakuza in Japan is very well-known. Though, with their appearance in video games and animes/mangas they seem to be cooler than they probably are. Maybe certain parts of Italy are dominated by the mafia.

I am not sure what I am thinking about when imagining the German mafia. I could name nationalities that I associate. But this would probably be racism. I think about red light districts, gambling shops, sex work, maybe human trafficking and smoked filled backrooms.

I am not scared about the mafia I have to say. There are only a few mafia incidents that make it to the news. Politically I am way more afraid of the (far-right) AfD. I think this is the biggest threat for my country. However, I have to admit in certain districts I am also scared of people with a different cultural backgrounds. I know some areas which are considered problematic. In general though I think for men it isn't that dangerous to take a walk at night. It is not as dangerous as for a woman.

What about you?

Why do you fear the far right people? Do they commit most of the violent crimes?

Poor people will be treated even worse under the AfD. Their economic policies are horrible for the country and their policies will male life worse for almost all discriminated minorities.

I thought it was a party for the poor people. Guess i am not well informed on them, sorry. What really bothers me about them is their love for putin. Also a EU exit of Germany would be terrible for everything. While the EU is pretty draconian with their demands of member states they have a lot of good sides AFAIK.

It is ironic many poor people and workers actually vote for the AfD. The policies of the AfD highly favor rich people though. One explanation could be cultural policies trump economic self-interests. Ressentments are stronger than rational calculations. There are many hypotheses for this phenomenon.

Nope - not the mafia. But definitely worried about the right wingers (see which states have the highest violent crime rates)....even Canada is starting to develop a far-right mentality (Alberta's present government is a not-so-closeted separatist party - and they apparently have enough signatures to hold a referendum on whether to separate from Canada).

To be fair, the present "right" term is so far away from the typical right-wing of Reagan, Diefenbaker, and even Peter Lougheed in Alberta, that the term has lost a lot of its meaning. (Eg. I'm fiscally conservative but socially liberal) - 10 years ago I would have been considered "right-wing"; now I'm probably considered a "left-wing" nutcase - even though my political views have not changed - the damn spectrum has shifted.
