A guy who is trying to sell me some says it starts working straight away. Which would be awesome. But the side effects sound liek they can be scary - though it has less sexual side effects which is a plus. In fact, from this article it actually sounds effing AMAZING. But I am in a group with someone who got anhedonia from it. I know there is a risk to everything....what do you think? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2224001/New-antidepressant-drug-wont-dent-sex-drive.html

That drug isn't commonly prescribed in the UK. I'd be very weary of a drug that's 'some guy' was selling me as a miracle cure. That Daily Mail article is from 2012 so I wouldn't take that as a credible scientific or medical reference. The fact you need to have liver tests on the drug on a regular basis is not something your GP will do for a drug you have bought yourself on the black market. There is no miracle fix for depression I'm afraid. Most drugs take 2 weeks at the very least. My advice would be absolutely not but you are adult and responsible for your own health and care. Why not speak to your GP to see if they will prescribe you it and if not, why won't they? Then you can make an informed choice. Be safe!

yes the liver effects are really scary. Reading reviews, it can work straight away, but the need for liver testing also makes me very dubious about buying this stuff over the internet.

The pscyhiatrist my friend sees did prescribe this for him - and he is much much happier. I could get this prescribed from the same psychiatrist - probably at a cost of abou £600 for 3 sessions. I don't know. or maybe my GP would do the liver tests if I got it online.

I don't think SSRIs work for me - though I've only tried one of them so far, but it didn't work and also made me so sleepy. So this is the most promising medication, with the most frightening side effects. the fact it works so quickly when it's my last chance to go back to work is tempting.

It's so difficult to decide what to do! Thank you for your thoughts.

Why buy it off some guy rather than a pharmacy? I can't imagine it would be that hard to get a prescription. It's just an antidepressant.

I'd need to go private for this prescription. My guy is a pharmacist!! It's legit stuff. It's last resort though, as scary
I'm testing Selegiline ATM..Day 1 and helping (5mg). Here is hoping. Much less scary than Agomelatine. Also I have Sarcosine in the post which is promising stuff.

I live in a well developed country, and tried agomelatine as an experimental treatment. Apparently it is used the same way as melatonin and has similar effect + additional effects. It made me sleep better and longer nights (even too long, 10 hours or more sometimes). It maybe made me feel very slightly better, but also more passive, unmotivated and lazy. No sexual dysfunction nor zombie feel like escitalopram did, but a little tired. Could be useful if you are anxious but not for going forward in life in my experience.

Thanks for the info.

I've just read today that you can combine Modafinil with anti-Ds to give more energy - here is a report: https://www.cam.ac.uk/research/news...rders-reduces-depressions-severity-when-taken

It helped me sleep at first. But after a while of taking it I'd wake up early, and not be able to get back to sleep. Don't think it helped much with depression.
