Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

Just started taking Sertraline, it's my fourth day and the side effects are making me feel like shit... nausea, loose stools, headaches. I'm supposed to go back to school soon so I don't know what the fuck to do. Anyone else here take or used to take SSRI? What was it like, did you have side effects and if so did they go away after a while?

Im not on one currently, but I've taken a few in the past (Prozac, Celexa, Trintellix off the top of my head). I've never really had side effects from them, but they didn't help much either and had to be combined with other drugs that did give me bad side effects.
For almost 10 years ago I used a SSRI-medication called "cipralex". In my country these pills are often called "happy-pills" and that is very stupid I think! It gives people the wrong expectations! The purpose of these pills is not to cure your depression or make you happy, but to take away the worst suffering the depression brings. I think they were helpfull back then, but it's out of the question for me to go back on any medication.
I can't stand this class of drugs. The sex I missed while on them I will never get back. All of them gave me that and weight gain. It's unfortunate I tried everything in this class & I got every side effect possible. A couple increased suicidal thoughts, one would make me throw up with almost no warning, I'd be driving and could only puke on myself. The newer SNRIs made me insane too. It's just my experience though, I know some people who were fine on SSRIs. And I actually loved Paxil, but again with the side effects. TCAs ended up working without all the side effects. Sadly, nothing seems to work anymore. I'm just over meds anyway. I stay on a couple that could really be bad if I just went off.
Slightly off topic but imo anti depressants really do so much more harm than good. I'm entirely convinced the only ' chemical imbalance' that exists happens after you've taken them long term.

I could have put that in there too - there are a lot of books and documentaries about the harmful effects of antidepressants. One doctor tried standing up to the Pharmaceutical companies and all of his testimony was revoked or something, so much negative shit came out of the trials. People ended up having to mix it with Xanax it caused so much anxiety.

I was taking this for awhile & it helped my panic attacks & bipolar(manic upswings & cant get out bed lows). No side effects. But stopped working after 10 years. Now on Citalopram for 2 weeks & I feel lighter in my moods & not crying so easily. No side effects either. I would suggest sticking with it & maybe the side effects will dissipate. If not change drugs. Best wishes

I'll feel you on the sex you'll never get back. And now I have PSSD and brain damage from SSRIs so I'll never have sex or emotions again. In addition to a dozen other symptoms like insomnia, dry skin, loss of taste and smell, memory loss, etc. It's why I am going to CTB with SN soon. Never thought a so-called "safe" pill, or any pill, could cause such destruction of brain and body. I lost my humanity. Not worth it.
I've taken all the SSRIs except paroxetine. I'm on Prozac at the moment. I find them to be mild drugs in terms of side-effects. Reduced libido is pretty common but for me it isn't bad enough to interfere with sex life. Whether they work, I think they do but sometimes the result isn't as dramatic as one would like. They're not happy pills.
I take sertraline 200mg and a beta blocker for migraines 80mg the two together do help me get through the day but the suicidal thoughts are still there I just keep them held back some days better than others
My mum was also on sertraline but she stopped taking them I found out she planned her suicide months in advance I do wonder if she hadn't had stopped would she still be here

I think psychiatrists need to sample the medications they dole out. Especially SSRIs and any anti-psychotic. Terrible side effects. How long were you on the SSRIs, may I ask?
Never taken them. I think almost nothing is worth losing your libido for.
Never been clinically depressed, so don't know how it works when depressed and with different people, but I find that libido is like a safety valve. The more stressed, anxious, miserable and scared I am in shitty times, the better orgasms I have. Mind/body cooperates to protect itself and recover naturally.

They can all cause it. It was Prozac that fully did me in but there are cases from each one of them. And some from Effexor as well. An MAOI would likely be the best choice if you have to take something. But they don't use those much anymore, even though studies show they were actually more effective for depression and such.

Off and on for 18 years sadly. But people can get this syndrome after just 4 pills. Likely a genetic thing but there is no way to test for it. I was on many meds really. Should have stuck with benzos or even opiates. It was the so-called "safe" drug that did me in.
