There are two states of life where you have to be taken care of by someone else. As a child and as an old person. There will eventually reach a point where maybe I can't take care of myself and have to have someone feed me, take me to the bathroom, and shower me every single day. And personally I can't really stand the idea of that. There's nothing inherently wrong with getting help but you just feel so helpless... As a kid at least you don't have the self conscious to care about that but once you get that awareness it just feels like hell.

I wouldn't have been scared if I had money, but I'm poor and can't work because of mental illness , to reach old age seems like torture to me , hopefully I'll be dead soon because my life is unlivable

Yes, I fear growing old and having more physical problems. I already have a few physical conditions that usually only older people have, although they are not as bad as to be life-limiting or disruptive, just annoying. I do not want to wait around and see exactly how and when things get worse.

Yeah. Once you get older, people are less likely to take care of you because they'll believe you'll be more independent. Except for when you get old, where you'll have to be taken care of...thing is, I don't really have any younger relatives right now, so I highly doubt I'll be taken care of properly when I'm old.

Also, I like the way I look now. I don't really want to lose my appearances to old age. I'd rather die young, so I'd look young forever...I'm told I look like a teenager despite being legally an adult.

If I ever get to a point where I'm old and sick and can't take care of myself anymore, I honestly don't think I'd want to go on. Hopefully, euthanasia will be legal by then.

From a poor pain threshold perspective, I'd have to confess the idea of growing old fills me with zero joy.

Becoming a less viril and weaker man doesn't bother me from a vanity perspective but feeling more vulnerable in an ever increasingly violent world, scares me.

I really understand and I really fear that, I find it horrific how a human can be tortured in this existence for decades longer just to face the extreme agony of old age with no limit as to how much they can suffer, existence to me really is an abomination and what I find so terrible and horrible is how humans choose to impose this torturous, futile existence that just leads to decay and death anyway onto others, existence is just so evil to me.

To be tortured in this existence until old age is such a terrible, agonising and undeserved punishment, I'll always see existence as a terrible mistake that just causes harm and suffering torturing existing beings all for the sake of it and the suffering of existing is endless, I'll always see it as an abomination to be conscious in this existence, there's just so much evil in how many humans want to do all they can to make others suffer for as much as long as possible in this existence, I always suffer so unbearably from how I cannot just access painless, guaranteed death so finally I can be at peace, for me non-existence is just all I see as positive.

Valid fears. The aging process is being conscious whilst your body's systems trend towards entropy and decay instead of growth. The glorification of it is cope. I don't want to be alive even while I'm mostly healthy, how would becoming dependent on others for the fulfillment of my most basic activities be considered anything other than tragedy? People have a habit of just going on for the sake of going on, not even considering the quality of life.

This is cute, and some people really feel this way about growing old. They say it is a privilege but only if you are relatively healthy, active and independent. Otherwise, it's just cruel imo.

It's nature's course for people to try and survive until the old age, despite the fact given the situations of the world right now and the diseases that are gonna catch up on you seems not a good deal.

This past month, a couple, 79 and 74, who lived in my neighborhood both died in a Hospice,. The woman died just a few days ago. The husband just a few weeks ago. I casually knew them, but had no idea they were dying.

This is my worst nightmare. After being plagued with arthritis and tendonosis throughout my 30s and 40s, I only know these conditions only get worse with age and I would rather not find out how bad it'll get. Ctb soon
