Any clues on how to avoid media attention post death?

I prefer my online friends not knowing details I kept private from them (apart from, say, my name, or one but not all entity from which they were able to discern who I am from the news article), however it's highly likely that the media will report on my death, alongside give out details about who I was and much more.

How best could I mitigate this?

Honestly I don't think there's much you can do about this. You won't be in control of what happens after you go. I guess if you're leaving a note for anyone you could ask them not to share specific details about your life but even then there's no guarantee.

Media usually don't care about suicides.

Unless you kill yourself in some sensational way or you are famous, your suicide will most likely not be reported. However, as said above, you can not really control what happens after you die, especially with media.
