Couldn't we make the argument that the state of being under full anesthesia is identical to death perceptually for the individual? (Although the 'death' is reversible in practice.)
"General anesthesia is a drug-induced, reversible coma that has four components:

  1. Analgesia — you don't perceive pain
  2. Unconsciousness — you're not aware of what's happening
  3. Amnesia — you're not forming memories
  4. Akinesia — you can't move"

Yes thats reasonable. It is the closest thing to death that we know of. Even more so than normal sleep

I have always wanted to be under anesthesia, it sounds so peaceful, not being able to experience anything.

You are right. It does feel peaceful although it is paradoxical since we dont actually experience anything and it feels like the time has stopped for us until we are out of it.
I wish I could try it too...
It is like a dreamless deep sleep where you wake up feeling that you just went to bed.

I would like to be anesthetized and have my head shot to hell, I wouldn't even feel anything

I kind of like this idea too. Knock me out cold so I might as well not exist. Then finish me fast so there's no slow brain death.

anesthesia is near death. Under surgical anesthesia, you may die if your breathing and circulation are not maintained. Anesthetics, thiopental or pentobarbital are also administered for euthanasia. In anesthesia you do not know when or if you will die. It is a pharmacologically induced coma, with severe analgesia and total loss of sensitivity

Thank you so much for the detailed description! It's comforting to hear you confirm the total lack of pain or perception one experiences in that state.

Every time I've been under anesthesia, I always wished that I wouldn't wake up afterwards. Unfortunately I've been disappointed every time...

It's like one of the best medical advancements ever.
