That kind of thing never stopped me before I was 18. My YouTube account still thinks I'm 10 years older than I really am.

Anyone who is below 18 will be discouraged to come here. It's not much and they can always lie about their age but from our end it seems like a responsible thing to do.

It's worth a shot but I still doubt it will actually dissuade anybody determined enough already to be here. I do agree it's worth implementing any way if it's not too much trouble though.

There should also be compassionate wording for the potential new 18+ message for SS. Signposting mainstream help and services perhaps?

It didn't stop me from entering 18+ sites, no, but it's a least something given the nature of this community.

Some compassionate words from fellow suicidal people may go a long way if you're in a state and cannot give consent to be here.

Sadly even actual 18 year olds might not be able to answer that especially not in the next few years.

I don't think it's a bad idea cause prolifers keep saying how there's a bunch of kids here apparently so at least this would be more straightforward and show them that nope..they're not supposed be here..but idk-this stuff has also never stopped me but I tried talking about this to prolifers and saying that teenagers still go on gore/porn sites or whatever even tho it's 18+ bla bla and they just keep spreading bs anyways://

Although it would reduce the sites liability that is not the reason we should do it. It should be done to dissuade anyone below 18 and maybe to give them a fair warning .

They get warned when making an account but yeah it would be better to make it more clear to anyone who enters even just to lurk.

Won't do anything I remember a few weeks ago someone who had a few active posts and was member in the community was a kid. They got caught only because they told people.

I wouldn't be surprised if a few people that we see sometimes are underaged.

So in short, they'll access it no matter what. It could make the site look better and more responsible but otherwise no benefit really.
