Help about the thickness of the rope on a full suspension? (Pic)

Would a common 1 finger thick string suffice?

I found somewhere on this forum that 20mm is a good thickness for full suspension, full suspension is more of a preference than needing a minimum, partial however i think might need a certain type of rope, non elastic atleast.
