I'm actually the same. I just started watching it not too long ago. I so badly want to enjoy it because it was considered very popular at one time but the story line makes me irritated. It frustrates me how in almost every scene someone is getting mad or throwing their hands up and walking away. I stopped watching it for that reason because it's very annoying to me :pfff:

It was good until they started diving heavily into the, everyone's (excluding naive virgin Clay) a victim, yet we're still here. The first season, super triggering. The second a unsettling resolution. The rest was cannon fodder. I'm 23.

What I find annoying, is that everyone seems to have been in love w.Hannah at some point. I know it's been awhile since I was a hs student, but come tf on!

And Tony, as a hs student? He doesn't look it, he doesn't talk like it either

It may be one of the worst netflix shows I've ever watched, and that's saying something.

I think parts of it are good. But as a tool to actually help those who are suicidal, I don't think so

The show clearly wasn't intended to help suicidal people or "start a conversation" as the showrunners claim. It was created because suicide has shock value and they knew it is going to attract attention. It seems that as the show goes on, they just throw all topics with shock value into the blender: extreme bullying, racism, homophobia, sexual assault, drugs, domestic violence, abortion, immigrant issues, homelessness and even school shootings - everything goes. And the picture they paint is way too one-sided and oversimplified to "start a conversation".
Season 1 was still decent because it was based on a book, although I do believe it's approach to the topic suicide is somewhat shallow and careless and Hanna's rapid descent is not portrayed in a very realistic way. But the following seasons were a complete mess.
